SEN Teaching Assistant – Rochdale

Location: Rochdale

Salary: £92.50 – £110 per day, dependent on experience

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Start Date: ASAP

Engage Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Rochdale.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
  • Help implement individual learning and support plans.
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop independence.
  • Assist with classroom activities and create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, autism or complex needs.
  • Is patient, resilient and compassionate.
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is proactive and able to use their own initiative.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has a positive and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with different needs.

Experience with in a specialist school, PRU, SEND setting or mainstream school with a strong SEND provision would be highly advantageous.
