Teaching Personnel is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Worker to join a specialist secondary school in Middleton. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support young people with complex additional needs, helping them develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and positive outcomes both in and out of the classroom.

This specialist provision supports secondary-aged pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Complex Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (CLDD)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Communication difficulties
• Sensory processing needs

As an SEN Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day. Working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help students engage in learning, build social skills, develop independence, and regulate their emotions.

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with their learning and daily routines
• Encouraging independence and personal development
• Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support strategies
• Supporting communication using specialist approaches where required
• Providing personal care support when needed
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team

• Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals with additional needs
• Confidence managing challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner
• A willingness to provide personal care support
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Patience, resilience, and adaptability
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND

• Supporting individuals with ASC, PMLD, CLDD, or SEMH needs
• Experience with in specialist education, care, residential, or support settings
• Team Teach or behaviour management training
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or alternative communication methods
