Electrical Shift Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Shift Pattern:
Monday to Friday - Rotating 3 Shifts (6:00am-2:00pm, 2:00pm-10:00pm, 10:00pm-6:00am)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a time-served Electrical Shift Engineer to join a well‑established and growing manufacturing company based in Middleton. This role is ideal for an electrically biased maintenance engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and working in a fast‑paced production environment. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of manufacturing equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and supporting continuous production.

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Fault find on PLC‑controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
• Maintain electrical control systems, drives, motors and associated equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Process maintenance work orders through the site's maintenance management system.
• Work independently while also contributing effectively within the engineering team.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing site.

• Time‑served Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
• Minimum ONC qualification (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations is essential.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with:
  • Safety circuit fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Three‑phase motor control circuits.
  • Relay logic and control systems.
  • PLC fault diagnosis.
  • AC & DC variable speed drives.
  • Sensors including proximity and optical sensors.
  • Industrial control systems including Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron and Telemecanique equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Computer literate with experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet production deadlines.
• Flexible, self‑motivated and committed with a strong work ethic.
• Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge would be advantageous.
