Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Contract)

Location:

Manchester
Rate: £40.00 per hour - Outside IR35
Shift Pattern: 3 Shift Rotation (Mornings, Afternoons & Nights)

Gap Technical is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team on a contract basis in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with a strong electrical maintenance background to support the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of production machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, working a 3-shift rotating pattern.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and continuous improvement activities across a range of automated production equipment. You'll play a key role in minimising downtime and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs.
Fault find on PLC-controlled machinery (diagnostic level).
Maintain electrical control panels, motors, drives, sensors, inverters and associated equipment.
Perform electrical inspections and ensure compliance with site standards.
Support machine installations, upgrades and commissioning activities.
Accurately complete maintenance records using the site's CMMS.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Work closely with production and engineering teams to maximise plant availability.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and statutory regulations. Skills & Experience

NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Proven experience within a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
Experience carrying out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
Willingness to work a 3-shift rotating pattern.
Strong awareness of health and safety best practices.
