About the RoleWe are hiring a Logistics Procurement Manager for one of our clients to lead road transportation sourcing, carrier strategy, and cost optimization across multiple trucking modes, including LTL, FTL, flatbed, parcel, and bulk transportation.
This role is ideal for a strategic, data-driven professional who excels in carrier negotiations, procurement strategy, and continuous improvement across large-scale transportation networks.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute road transportation sourcing strategies across multiple trucking modes
- Lead carrier negotiations, securing competitive rates and contract terms
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through benchmarking, lane analysis, and network optimization
- Oversee freight audit and payment processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Collaborate with logistics, operations, and commercial teams to align capacity with demand
- Improve network efficiency through load consolidation, backhaul strategies, and carrier diversification
- Support sustainability and efficiency initiatives within transportation procurement
- Analyze transportation spend and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies
- Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the role
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in road transportation or logistics procurement
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills
Preferred
- Advanced degree in a related discipline
- Experience with freight audit and payment systems
- Proficiency with Excel and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI; Python/R a plus)
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, HOS, and hazmat regulations
- Up to 25%, based on business needs
This role is primarily office-based with occasional site or carrier visits.
