Certified Addiction Counselor (40 Hour) – Office/On‑site
Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH) under the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is recruiting a Certified Addiction Counselor to provide high‑quality, person‑centered care in a Level 3.7 R residential treatment setting.
Position Highlights- Schedule:
Sunday – Thursday, Full‑time (40 hrs/week), First shift (8:00‑4:30) - Facility:
Connecticut Valley Hospital, Merritt 3AB unit - Location:
1000 Silver Street, Middletown, CT - Position Number: 139984
- Weekend differential eligibility
- Provide active treatment in accordance with CMS and 1115 waiver requirements
- Lead 15 hours of group therapy each week
- Conduct weekly individual sessions with assigned clients
- Case management, including discharge planning and care coordination
- Assist clients in connecting with community resources and recovery supports
- Oversight of daily therapeutic activities in the milieu
- Transport clients to medical and recovery appointments
- Develop treatment plans, assess progress, and complete clinical documentation
- Certification from the Connecticut Department of Public Health as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor
- Three (3) years of experience in risk‑reduction education and counseling to alcohol and drug‑dependent individuals
- Submission of a comprehensive medical examination, including drug screening, upon conditional offer of employment
- Experience with individual counseling of clients with co‑occurring disorders
- Experience facilitating group counseling for co‑occurring disorders
- Experience with case management activities and discharge planning
- Experience collaborating with other agency service providers and community outreach
- Valid driver’s license
- Must retain certification/licensure outlined above
- Minimum of two (2) years substance‑free time required for candidates recovering from addiction
- Fluency in a foreign language or American Sign Language may be required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Travel required
