Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant 2 (37.5 Hour)
Location: Middletown, CT
Salary: $56,633 - $76,029/year (minimum for new state employees)

Highlights- Schedule: Full‑time (37.5 hrs) – First shift with one evening shift per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM; Wednesday 11:30 AM–7:30 PM)

- Implement rehabilitation activities under a therapist’s treatment plans.
- Assist in planning rehabilitation activities and programs to improve or correct individual disorders.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Provide training and guidance to new employees and students.
- Observe, report, and chart individual behavior or response.
- Prepare records and reports.
- Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist in preparing treatment plans and screening individuals under supervision of a professional therapist.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Knowledge of: rehabilitation principles and practices; physical and psychosocial disorders and therapeutic techniques; individual and group dynamics; therapy equipment and maintenance.
- Interpersonal
Skills:
strong verbal and written communication. - Ability to: instruct and work effectively with individuals; incorporate art or craft therapies; follow instructions; observe, report, and chart behaviors; assess program results.
- Three (3) years of experience with individuals exhibiting intellectual, emotional, or motor disorders.
- One (1) year of that experience as a Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant 1 or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree in a recognized therapeutic discipline may substitute for the required experience.
- College training may substitute for General Experience (15 semester hours ≈ 0.5 yr, up to 3 yrs) – Special Requirement still applies.
- Certification as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Red Cross Advanced Life Saving, Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and AED may be required.
- Certification to administer medication by unlicensed personnel (per Department of Developmental Services) may be required.
- Bilingual or fluent in American Sign Language may be required.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license may be required.
- Travel may be required.
May require lifting and restraining individuals; exposure to disagreeable conditions, infectious diseases, and risk of injury from assaultive or abusive individuals.
