Responsibilities
  • Provide highly skilled direct clinical social work and substance abuse services to clients with complex psychological and social problems through comprehensive clinical assessments and individual, family, and group treatment.
  • Offer individual field work instruction and clinical supervision, including instruction in comprehensive psychosocial assessments and current diagnostic categories, considering cultural, social, economic, medical, environmental, and legal issues.
  • Develop comprehensive service plans with measurable treatment objectives.
  • Initiate consultation and collaboration with other mental health providers to improve delivery of services and address unmet needs.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Master Social Workers.
  • Assist in resolution of administrative, personnel, and clinical issues in the program or agency.
  • Oversee development and implementation of individual client treatment and/or service plans.
  • Provide leadership to program components such as crisis intervention teams, inpatient treatment teams, case management teams, psycho educational program services, psychosocial rehabilitation, and forensic services.
  • Perform forensic evaluations and expert testimony to courts; represent the program or agency during licensing and certification inspections conducted by regulatory bodies; maintain liaison relationships with other community agencies and resources.
  • Give in‑service educational presentations on available health, mental health, and human services resources and how to access them; present information on mental illness and services to community groups.
  • Supervise medication self‑administration for individuals served.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Extensive knowledge of theories of human behavior, current diagnostic categories of mental illness, family dynamics, substance abuse, and human sexuality; competence in applying individual and group treatment modalities; strong oral and written communication and administrative skills; ability to integrate theory and case material in assessing and devising comprehensive treatment plans for complex cases; leadership in treatment teams and agency committees.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of experience as a licensed clinical social worker.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with adults with complex behavioral health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience providing clinical services to adults with chronic, complex behavioral health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience assessing risk and crisis intervention.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
Special Requirements
  • Must possess and retain a license to practice clinical social work pursuant to Sec. 20‑195 (m‑z) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
  • Must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. 1320a‑7b(f).
  • May be required to have knowledge of sign language and communication ability with the deaf and hearing impaired in designated positions.
  • May be required to have ability in Spanish oral and written communication in designated positions.
  • May be required to travel.
