Overview
The State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) invites applications for a Lead Forensic Treatment Specialist at Whiting Forensic Hospital (WFH) in Middletown, CT. The role leads a team of Forensic Treatment Specialists, guides patient care, ensures safety protocols, and fosters a therapeutic environment in a maximum‑security facility.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise Forensic Treatment Specialists on the unit.
- Implement and maintain patient care plans and security regulations.
- Support safe custody of patients and manage adverse security events.
- Coordinate patient management, medication administration (controlled substances excluded), and first aid procedures.
- Assist in planning and implementing patient activity programs.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Forensic Treatment Specialist.
- Knowledge of psychiatric procedures, patient behavior, and safe custody in security conditions.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead staff, observe and report patient behavior, and perform basic first aid.
- Fluency in American Sign Language is an asset.
