- Know and understand all Adult Education Programs: ABE/ESL, GED, Groves, Twilight, Credit Recovery, Summer School
- Develop a positive relationship with the high school and adult students we serve
- Understand the process of student intake, admissions, enrollment, including application, testing, pre-assessment, initial interview, placement
- Assist and follow-up student completion of College and Career Plan I and II and assist with student’s course completion when necessary
- Understand transcript analysis (US and foreign), IEPs and 504 plans, credit evaluation, and state of Delaware graduation requirements
- Counsel students when needed:
Academic, career, skills training, social, emotional, and behavioral - Assist students with attainable goal settings and completion and internship and WBL placements
- Assist with all graduation processes, program, and procedures
- Contact students regarding poor attendance or lack of academic progress
- Follow-up on inquiries and referrals from potential students
- Work with administrator to research, monitor, and apply NRS, Appoquinimink Adult Education, and state goals. Follow up with students to ensure goals have been set and met and create transitions for each student in all programs
- Work with administrator to ensure all students are placed into post-secondary training, college, or obtain a job
- Assist to monitor and maintain requirements of the Delaware Department of Education on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
- Organize a yearly career fair at multiple locations
- Organize a yearly post-secondary education/apprenticeship/training fair at various locations
- Follow-up One Stop and WIOA Partner opportunities and referrals
- Understand, utilize, and monitor LACES, eSchool, Schoology, Edmentum, and Edgeunity daily
- Work and behave in a professional manner. Help to maintain the school’s professional appearance
- Maintain accurate records
- Monitor student progress with regular appointments and check-ins with each student to ensure academic and SELB success
- Any other assigned
- Delaware Secondary School Counselor certification

Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies.
Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
Pre-employment requirements- All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
