Pay RangeThis range is provided by Brookdale Community College. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Base pay range: $22.05/hr – $22.05/hr
OverviewProvide academic student support by working one‑on‑one and in small groups with students on specific concepts and skills.
Responsibilities- Tutor individual and small groups of students in fundamental and advanced skills and areas of knowledge.
- Facilitate student study groups.
- Provide assistance to students in comprehending discipline‑specific subject matter.
- Respond to student questions requiring an in‑depth knowledge of subject matter, course concepts and learning objectives.
- Assist in conducting student support functions.
- Provide assistance with testing in special circumstances where discipline‑specific knowledge is required (e.g., students with special needs).
- Support student use of discipline‑specific technology and the course learning management system.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or, in limited circumstances, the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
- Prior tutoring experience desirable.
- Proven ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, cultures, and knowledge base.
- Proven ability to communicate ideas, principles and concepts effectively in individual or small group settings.
- Computer literacy skills at an intermediate level in some or all of the following:
Microsoft Office, procedural programming, object‑oriented programming, databases (SQL preferred), and data structures. - Knowledge of information research strategies.
- Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
- Must have ability to travel to other sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations
- Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
- Positions are available for both day and evening hours.
