Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Characterization Engineer
Aloe Semiconductor, Inc., an innovator in silicon photonics technology, is seeking a Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Characterization Engineer to join our growing team. This role is focused on the hands‑on characterization, testing, and analysis of photonic integrated circuits for ultra‑high‑speed optical communication applications.
This position is ideal for an engineer with strong laboratory skills, attention to detail, and a desire to grow in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities- Characterize photonic integrated circuits using electrical and optical test equipment
- Develop, execute, and document test procedures for PIC devices
- Analyze measurement data to assess performance, variability, and yield
- Support wafer‑level and packaged device testing
- Troubleshoot test setups and measurement anomalies
- Collaborate closely with PIC designers and fabrication partners to provide actionable feedback
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies and lab infrastructure

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Hands‑on experience in an optical or electrical laboratory environment
- Experience working with electrical and/or optical test systems
- Proficiency in programming and data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection
- Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications- Experience characterizing photonic integrated circuits, particularly silicon photonics
- Familiarity with wafer‑level testing of photonic integrated circuits
- Experience with yield analysis of optical or electronic devices
- Experience qualifying semiconductor devices for production or reliability
- Ability to design or specify mechanical fixtures for test setups
- Understanding of silicon photonics fabrication processes
