PATIENT CARE TECH - CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LAB
The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of a nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. They collaborate with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients.
Shift: 7:30 am–4:00 pm, full time, 40 hours/week.
Facility: Atrium Medical Center.
Responsibilities:
- Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
- Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
- Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
- Perform ADLs, weight patients, and record vitals.
The PCT may also be referred to as a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC). In that role they assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Training: Must obtain a BLS CPR certificate. The hospital can provide CPR training during orientation if you do not already have a certificate.
Experience: No previous job experience required, but you should have one of the following:
- Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
- Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with toileting).
- Currently enrolled in nursing school and finished one clinical rotation.

- You can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even when interrupted, and remain courteous.
- You know how to use a computer.
- You are organized.
- You can communicate effectively with others.
- Bonus: previous hospital experience.
