Registered Nurse; RN - Critical Care Unit

The Critical Care Unit is a 25‑bed inpatient nursing unit specializing in the care of adult medical/surgical patients and cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgical patients. The unit is equipped to provide post‑operative care and recovery of cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients including open heart, thoracotomy, endarterectomy as well as percutaneous cardiac intervention and acute myocardial infarction. Patients admitted may require intensive monitoring of lab values, hemodynamic pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, administration and titration of vasoactive and/or neuromuscular blocking agents or recovery from anesthesia, Ultra Filtration (UF), Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Reperfusion Therapy (CRRT), Impella Device, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM).

Part time / 48 hours per pay period

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients, families, and significant others to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in nursing practice. The RN utilizes the nursing process with evidence‑based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service.

The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter‑professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics, and applicable regulatory standards.

Minimum level of education required:
Associate degree

  Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Area of study or major:
  Nursing.
• Preferred educational qualifications: BSN preferred; BSN completion or professional certification may be required.
• Position specific testing requirement: N/A.

• Valid Ohio RN license.

Minimum level of experience required:
Experience recovering open heart patients is required. No prior job‑related work experience.
