Job Details The Manager, Database Administration is responsible for the design, implementation, performance, and operational management of enterprise database systems supporting mission-critical applications and reporting platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, guiding database architecture, operational excellence, and team development.

The individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software engineering, data engineering, Dev Ops, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality database solutions aligned with organizational objectives. In addition to technical responsibilities, this role provides managerial leadership including mentoring database professionals, establishing best practices, and driving continuous improvement across database operations and data platform engineering.

The position plays a key role in cultivating technical guidance, architecture standards, and operational procedures while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Responsibilities The Manager, Database Administration will provide both technical leadership and operational oversight, ensuring database systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards. This position requires expertise in database performance and availability, strong understanding of business and technical requirements, and the ability to guide teams in delivering innovative and reliable solutions.

The role also requires team leadership, mentorship, and coordination across geographically dispersed teams, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Leadership & Management Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database administrators, data engineers, and development teams.

Guide and develop team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and professional development initiatives.

Lead database architecture decisions and establish standards for database design, security, and operational practices.

Collaborate with IT leadership to develop strategic plans for database infrastructure, scalability, and modernization.

Coordinate work across distributed teams and manage priorities across multiple projects and operational demands.

Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of database team members when applicable.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and accountability across database operations.

Act as a key technical advisor to leadership on database technologies, platform improvements, and performance strategies.

Technical & Operational Responsibilities Manage and monitor enterprise database environments ensuring availability, reliability, and optimal performance.

Oversee database job scheduling and ensure failures are resolved promptly to maintain uninterrupted business operations.
