- Plans, directs, and coordinates construction activities for mechanical and electrical industrial projects.
- Projects include Steel/Manufacturing, Power, Data Centers, and various MEP-related projects across multiple industries and clients.
- Typically oversee one large project or multiple smaller projects.
- Ensure project goals are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters, personally or through subordinate supervision.
- Manage Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen who supervise construction employees, with overall direction and evaluation of the team.
- Initiate and maintain liaison with prime clients to facilitate construction activities.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy.
- Confer with project staff to outline work plans, assign duties/responsibilities and authority.
- Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of the project and arrange recruitment or assignment of personnel.
- Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure work progresses on schedule and within budget.
- Review project proposals or plans to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements, and available resources.
- Review status reports and modify schedules/plans as needed.
- Prepare project reports for management, clients, or others.
- Provide technical advice and resolve problems; coordinate with governmental agencies and subcontractors.
- Understand and execute CPM-based project schedules; monitor and control construction through on-site supervision to ensure safety, schedule, and budget compliance.
- Represent the company in Owner progress meetings.
- Manage financial aspects of contracts and be responsible for project profit or loss.
- Lead project team in daily field coordination meetings, weekly block schedule meetings, and monthly safety kickoff meetings.
- Mentor and assist with career development of other team members.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction and any other duties assigned.
- Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing/hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding/disciplining, and addressing/or resolving complaints.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management
- PE credentialing is not required but is a strong plus
- 10+ years’ experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required
- Understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards.
- Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices and their impact on project activities.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to interface and communicate effectively with others.
