The Critical Care Unit is a 25‑bed inpatient nursing unit specializing in the care of adult medical/surgical patients and cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgical patients. The unit is equipped to provide post‑operative care and recovery of cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients, including open heart, thoracotomy, endarterectomy, percutaneous cardiac intervention and acute myocardial infarction. Patients admitted to the unit may require intensive monitoring of laboratory values, hemodynamic pressure monitoring, mechanical ventilation, administration and titration of vasoactive and/or neuromuscular blocking agents, recovery from anesthesia, as well as devices such as Ultra Filtration, Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Reperfusion Therapy, Impella Device and Targeted Temperature Management.
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who partners with and advocates for patients, families and significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support that impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in nursing. The RN utilizes the nursing process and evidence‑based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the unit scope of service.
The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry, collaborating with the inter‑professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.
Minimum Level of
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing - Preferred qualification: BSN or BSN completion within 5 years required
- Valid Ohio RN License
- Current BLS
- Specialty certifications may be required depending on unit
- Professional certification preferred
Minimum Level of Experience
Required:
1–3 years of job‑related experience.
- Minimum 2‑year experience as an RN.
- Preferred: 1 year of informal leadership experience.
