American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with open heart surgery experience for a night shift position requiring an active Ohio or compact RN license.

• 16-bed ICU unit within a 310-bed hospital
• Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting with Open Heart patient population
• Unit cares for CABG and valve post-op patients, including Impella, IABP, and CRRT support
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:2 for critical care and 1:3 for intermediate level patients
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• 13 or 18 week winter contract options available
• Floating required within the hospital or to another nearby Premier hospital based on census and skill set
• Must work every other weekend and every other holiday
• EPIC EMR experience required

• Active Ohio RN license or compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certification through AHA required
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Associate's Degree in Nursing or BSN required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Experience with ventilators, NIH stroke scale, IV starts, ICP monitoring, and conscious sedation required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Open heart surgery experience required, including CABG, valve post-op, Impella, IABP, and CRRT
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

• Level III Trauma Center providing care for ischemic stroke patients receiving TPA
• Unit manages COVID-positive patients, CRRT, 24-hour EEG monitoring, post-cardiac arrest hypothermia protocols, and prone positioning
• Facility practices Family Centered Care with unrestricted visiting hours
• Strong emphasis on customer service
• RTO must be requested at time of submittal with a maximum of 14 days per contract; no RTO added after offer
• References are not required for consideration
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Previous perm/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying and require facility rehire approval
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be considered
