FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.

Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The position is based in Reno, NV, and has been operating for over nine years.

Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties. The purpose of the inspection is:

• Verify property occupancy.
• Report general condition of the property using a mobile application.
• Take exterior photos; interior photos may be required after vacancy.

• Typical inspection takes 5–6 minutes.
• Complete inspection within 4 days of assignment.
• Make determination of occupancy based on industry standards and report general property conditions.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in the app.
• Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage.
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, varying by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, you can expect earnings equivalent to $30–$40 per hour.

Depending on county type and volume, you’ll complete 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates; higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month‑to‑month, with opportunities to earn more by establishing yourself, increasing availability, or covering larger territories.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
