SummaryUnder the direction of the Urgent Care Practice Manager and the TMH Manager Medical Imaging, the Radiology Tech performs a variety of technical radiographic procedures, applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and carries out clerical duties as well as EKG and phlebotomy functions. All essential tasks reflect the age‑specific needs of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and adapt care to their physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs.

- Follow the Urgent Care Center’s workflow protocols to maximize quality and efficiency.
- Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies.
- Provide clear explanations of radiologic examinations, EKGs, and phlebotomy tests to patients to reduce apprehension.
- Ensure safety and comfort of all patients, and maintain patient flow by scheduling radiologic examinations appropriately.
- Perform patient identification on all patients presenting for a radiologic exam.
- Conduct radiographic exams with sound understanding of equipment, positioning, physiology, and technical factors to produce optimal results.
- Transfer images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review.
- Scan documents into applicable systems for archiving and retrieval.
- Perform quality control procedures and report equipment issues to the Manager of Medical Imaging.
- Place EKG leads and record tracings, ensuring proper labeling and inclusion in the patient’s medical record.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and adequate supplies for the assigned area.
- Provide coverage as needed, including weekends and holidays, and demonstrate flexibility with shifts and locations.
- Participate in training and instruction of new Urgent Care Radiology Techs.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental, and infection control policies.
- Manage time effectively, filling slow periods with activities that prepare for future needs.
- Maintain personal appearance and attire in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
- Current license to work in the State of Rhode Island and ARRT certification.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients in an acute care environment.
- One‑year experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff of all levels.
Physical Requirements
- Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices, or ancillary healthcare enterprises.
- Direct patient contact and use of medical equipment.
- Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day; may lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds.
$30.39 – $50.16 per hour
