About Protea

Protea is a UK manufacturer and gas analysis solutions provider with more than 20 years’ experience. Its innovative technologies support emissions, process and environmental monitoring across industry and research worldwide.

Joining Protea means becoming part of an experienced team developing advanced solutions that support pollution reduction, process improvement and environmental responsibility.

About the role

Protea is looking for an experienced Product Marketing Manager to lead the launch and commercial growth of an exciting new mobile gas monitoring product.

This hands-on role has marketing at its heart. You will own the product's positioning, messaging, launch activity and market development, turning complex technical capabilities into clear customer benefits. You will have significant influence over market positioning, distributor development and future product direction.

Working with senior management, sales, engineering, software, production and distributors, you will deliver a marketing strategy that builds awareness, creates demand and converts interest into commercial opportunities. You don’t need to be a gas analysis expert from day one, but you will need experience with technical products, commercial awareness and the confidence to communicate their value to different audiences.

This is a unique opportunity to take a new scientific instrument from launch through to commercial maturity within a growing technology business.

Key responsibilities

You will take the lead on launching and growing an exciting new technical product, shaping how it is positioned, promoted and brought to market. Working across marketing, sales and technical teams, you will:

  • Own and deliver the product marketing and launch strategy.
  • Develop compelling positioning, messaging and customer-focused content.
  • Identify target markets, applications and commercial opportunities.
  • Plan engaging campaigns, exhibitions, webinars and digital launch activity.
  • Create sales and marketing materials, including website content, presentations, case studies and datasheets.
  • Work with sales teams and distributors to generate leads and convert interest into opportunities.
  • Gather customer and market insight to influence pricing, packaging and future product development.
  • Assess, recruit and develop specialist distributor partners for this new product line, building a strong international network that can support its commercial growth.
  • Monitor campaign performance, competitor activity and the commercial pipeline.
  • Become a knowledgeable and enthusiastic product champion, internally and externally.
What we’re looking for

You will be an experienced, commercially focused product marketer with:

  • Strong experience in product positioning, launch planning, content creation and campaign delivery.
  • Sales awareness and an understanding of lead generation, pricing and conversion.
  • Experience marketing technical, scientific, industrial or laboratory products.
  • The ability to turn technical information into clear, engaging customer benefits.
  • Experience creating digital content, presentations, datasheets and case studies.
  • Confidence working with sales teams, technical colleagues, distributors and international partners.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and project management skills.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and internationally.

Experience launching technical products, using CRM and marketing automation tools,…
