Summary
This position must have basic knowledge of family medicine and be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients. This position is responsible for the coordination of the My Michigan Physicians Group (MPG) and the Physician Enterprise family practice staff to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. The supervisor RN will oversee employees and patients at the office location, act as liaison with other subsidiary and organization personnel, order medical and office supplies, maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and corporate policies, coordinate and train new employees, provide teaching to patients and their families, manage pain and symptom management, be available for office emergencies, call in prescriptions, teach medication usage, and ensure continuity of care with other providers.
The supervisor RN also provides daily direction to clinical and administrative staff and assists the practice manager with short‑range planning.
(25%) The supervisor RN coordinates and trains new employees and float staff, conducts coaching and disciplinary conversations, and assists with job performance reviews for all staff. Processes time‑keeping in the Kronos system for bi‑weekly payroll, facilitates hiring and selection of new employees, and establishes work schedules for clinic staff.
(25%) Performs clinical duties as needed, including triaging patient calls, reporting test results, assessing patients, and serving as a liaison between provider and patient.
(25%) Handles day‑to‑day clinical operations and uses critical thinking skills to resolve issues.
(25%) Interacts positively with patients and families, providing information so they may fully utilize MPG services and My Michigan Health services.
Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesInteracts positively with patients and families during severe stress situations.
Demonstrates critical thinking and integration of theory to practice for patients in the clinic.
Provides for the age‑specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures, as evidenced by observation, documentation, and peer feedback.
Understands necessary Epic computer functions, dictation systems, and other programs to assist providers and staff.
Roo‑mps patients during office visits, records all vital signs, assesses physical and social needs, verifies demographic information, and maintains clinical documentation per MPG policies and procedures.
Provides teaching to patients and staff on subjects related to family medicine, provides coverage for the practice manager.
Manages patient symptom management and is available for care emergencies.
Calls in prescriptions and teaches patients and families about medications and side effects.
Co‑ordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers, including patient admits and transfers to the medical center.
Serves as a resource to technical, clerical and medical staff, identifies preventative maintenance needs for office equipment.
Assists in performance reviews of clinical staff and conducts follow‑up as appropriate.

Certifications and LicensuresBLS - Basic Life Support

Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees.
Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group; interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels, communicating ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
PC software knowledge must include Excel and Word.
Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures as normally acquired through 3‑5 years working in the health care system or similar setting.
