Description

Currie West is the premier 18‑hole course at the Currie Municipal Golf Complex, offering a modern design that rivals Michigan’s top resort destinations. Originally a 9‑hole layout, the course was expanded in 2002 to a full 18 holes, showcasing the vision of renowned Michigan golf course architect Jerry Mathews of Natural Golf Design.

The course features a complete redesign of the original back nine and a newly developed front nine, carved into the naturally wooded terrain between M-20 and the Tittabawassee River. This scenic and challenging layout has quickly become a favorite among local golfers and visitors alike.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and elevate the Currie West experience. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf facility, including operations, guest services, staff management, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a passion for hospitality, golf, and delivering exceptional experiences.

Essential Duties
  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc.) business volume forecasts.
  • Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
  • Establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and establishes basic personnel policy, initiates and monitors policies relating to personnel actions and training along with professional development programs.
  • Ensures all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
  • Develops, maintains and administers a sound organizational plan and initiates improvements as necessary.
  • Maintains membership with the PGA and CMAA and other professional associations. Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facility’s physical assets and each individual facility.
  • Coordinates marketing programs to promote the facility’s services to potential customers.
  • Ensures the highest standards for food and beverage service on property.
  • Implements policies and procedures for multiple departments, including compliance of all company standards relating to quality of products and services.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Directly manages department members that may include, but is not limited to:
    Head Professional(s), Golf Course Superintendent(s), Tournament Coordinator, Director, Instruction, etc.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four‑year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Multi‑course facilities may require more experience.)

Physical Demands

Regularly stands, walks and sits. Occasionally may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, taste or smell. Regularly uses hands to finger, feel or handle, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment / Noise

Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates / Licenses

Class A member of PGA/LPGA member

Job Knowledge, Skill, And Ability Preferences
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
