Summary
System responsibility for overall corporate marketing, branding, public relations and communications strategy and implementation and legislative relations and advocacy for health system. Develops strategies to assist leadership in providing excellent image, marketing and communications to the health system.
Responsibilities(50%) Develops strategies and implements marketing, branding and public relations for the health system to enhance the My Michigan Health brand, image and awareness in the communities we serve. Serves as primary liaison to marketing agencies, manages marketing budgets and oversees corporate marketing efforts to include major market research and implementation of marketing and public relations plans.
(25%) Directs and implements tactical elements of the strategic internal communication plan, as well as supporting efforts such as Human Resources and employee benefits communications, organizational education and development efforts and compensation plans. Develops strategies to enhance internal communication efforts to align with My Michigan Health foundational elements and strategies. Directs and implements tactical elements of strategic external communications for the health system to include public relations, crisis communications and communications through social media platforms to enhance brand awareness and loyalty.
Oversees overall web presence, findability and usability for external audiences. Collaborates with Information Technology, Human Resources and other stakeholders to leverage the intranet as a tool for employee communications and internal business operations in order to improve employee productivity and satisfaction. Develops strategies to assist senior leadership to continually improve internal communications in a complex organization with a geographically dispersed staff.
Helps middle management frame and incorporate strategic messaging into their employee communication efforts. Develops accountability loops to ensure strategies are being implemented effectively at all levels of the organization.
(25%) With Executive leadership establishes and implements short- and long-range goals for government relations including monitoring local, state and national legislation as it relates to health care and the organization. Supervises consultants and/or lobbyists engaged in supporting the organizations government relations. Develops strategies for relationship development with key elected officials and career administrators and executive and board leadership.
Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn consultation with executive leadership, assists with special projects as assigned such as integration of new subsidiaries and other marketing/communication needs. Plans and analyzes recommendations from major My Michigan Health market research, as appropriate.
Collaborates on various research efforts to measure employee communication in order to ensure message themes are being successfully communicated to staff and that communication channels are being leveraged effectively.
Provides counsel to senior leadership regarding crisis communications that relate to employee issues.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND
SKILLS:
Five years leadership experience, previous health care experience, excellent communication skills.
Previous experience in communications and leadership required.
Legislative / governmental affairs experience preferred.
