Summary

The registered nurse will perform direct patient/resident care and delegate to patient care technicians, providing care and comfort to patients. Knowledge and compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines relating to facility care will be maintained. This position requires basic medical/surgical knowledge to care for general surgical and orthopedic surgical patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs
    :
    Regularly assess patient needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician's plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice.
  • Provide direct patient care
    :
    Includes medication administration, treatments, responding to call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness
    :
    Participate in updating/revising the treatment plan with the healthcare team.
  • Process orders
    :
    Accurately and promptly process physician/provider orders.
  • Follow up
    :
    Follow up on medication changes and order clarifications.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities

    Interpret clinical information, provide patient education, coordinate care, organize and prioritize patient needs, document accurately, participate in regulatory surveys and performance improvement activities, and assist in orientation and ongoing competencies. Also includes performing specialized procedures such as inserting tubes, providing ostomy care, and managing drains, following physician orders and established procedures.

    Certifications and Licensures
    • RN:
      Registered Nurse (Essential)
    • BLS:
      Basic Life Support (Essential)
    • TEAM ADVANCED:
      Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (Essential)
    • DIMC:
      Dysrhythmia Interpretation (Essential)
    Required Education

    Associate degree required;
    Bachelor's degree preferred. Specialization in NRG is preferred.

    Experience, Training, and Skills

    Effective communication skills, competency in Microsoft Windows, and the ability to handle stressful situations are required.

    Physical and Mental Requirements

    Ability to move about the facility, wear PPE, handle multiple tasks, and perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally. Must be able to work in stressful conditions, including exposure to blood borne pathogens.
