Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a transportation equipment manufacturing organization in Midland, Texas on a Contract basis. This 3-month assignment will support day-to-day accounting operations by handling invoice activity, maintaining payment accuracy, and helping the team meet demanding timelines. The position is well suited for someone who works carefully, stays organized under pressure, and can manage a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper supporting documentation before processing

- Assign appropriate accounting codes to vendor invoices and enter payment details into the system with a high degree of accuracy

- Process a large volume of accounts payable transactions while meeting established deadlines and internal controls

- Coordinate with internal departments and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies, missing information, and payment-related questions

- Prepare approved invoices for timely payment and help ensure obligations are settled according to agreed terms

- Maintain organized payable records so documentation is easy to retrieve for audits, reporting, and month-end activities

- Support the accounting team with routine reconciliations and other administrative tasks related to accounts payable operations Requirements - Experience working in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role

- Practical knowledge of invoice coding and high-volume invoice processing

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and follow through on corrections

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a busy work environment

- Clear communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal team members

- Solid organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate financial records

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
