Project Superintendent Construction – Job Description
The Project Superintendent for Construction at Midland Memorial Hospital is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and assisting in the completion of field and office activities for construction projects from start to finish. The role requires supervisory experience of subcontractors and in‑house construction staff, an advanced understanding of the entire construction process, and the ability to interact and communicate with project requestors to meet their needs.
The Superintendent also assists the Project Manager Construction with project budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Supervise a workforce of 20+ workers on multiple job sites.
- Schedule, supervise and manage subcontractors for multiple projects.
- Schedule, supervise and manage in‑house foremen and construction staff for multiple projects.
- Inspect projects for progress, quality, safety, and compliance with policies and procedures and update the project manager via daily reports.
- Estimate materials, manpower and equipment needed to complete projects.
- Manage and track inventory of stored materials, tools and equipment.
- Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA, infection control, life safety and MMH policies.
- Possess extensive knowledge of all construction trades to identify and correct deficient work to MMH standards.
- Be available by phone during non‑working hours for job site coordination.
- Conduct weekly safety toolbox talks and address safety concerns.
- Communicate professionally with project requestors.
- Report policy or procedure infractions to the Project Manager of Construction.
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience.
- Experience handling multiple projects concurrently.
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear.
- Lift up to 35 lbs for clinical staff and up to 50 lbs for non‑clinical staff; use an assisted‑lift device or assistance if over these limits.
