Position Purpose

This position is responsible for executing the vision of the Next Generation Ministry and assisting in leading efforts to see that vision realized in the Student Ministry at Stonegate Fellowship. The Youth Ministry Director’s purpose encompasses empowering both adults and youth to minister to students, building intentional relationships in order to walk with them through the process of spiritual transformation, and assisting the Next Generation team in carrying out its overall mission.

This position shall be subject to the supervision of the SGY Minister. It is understood that this job description is designed to give a general overview of the duties of this position. While the primary and general focus should remain fairly consistent, it is also understood that the specific duties and responsibilities are subject to change.

Ultimately, the purpose of this position is to assist in the effectuation of the mission of Stonegate Fellowship as it relates to the administration of the Church. The SGY Youth Ministry Director will ensure that ministry to the Next Generation is marked by excellence, fosters connection inside and outside of the church, provides avenues for intentional growth, and leads students and their families to live out lives of influence in the community.

All duties of this position shall ultimately be focused on assisting Stonegate Fellowship in its quest to help students experience the transformation of Jesus.

Role Basics | Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Leading in a ministry of approximately 150 students and Servant-Leaders to reflect the five purposes of the Church (evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, missions, and worship) to ensure that we are helping the Next Generation experience the transformation of Jesus.
  • Employ a strategy for recruiting, training, empowering, developing, and encouraging small group Servant-Leaders to minister to students. Help adult leaders connect with students and their families inside and outside the church by maintaining an active roster, teaching students how to grow spiritually, and leading them to live lives of influence by taking the necessary next steps beyond Sunday programming.
  • Partner with Coaches to create a ministry leadership team and execute regular meetings designed to evaluate programming and create intentional discipleship opportunities/events for students, as well as to encourage the other Servant-Leaders who serve in the ministry area.
  • Lead a D-Group and intentionally invest in middle or high school students (of the same gender as the director).
  • Equip and empower monthly Baptism coaches, who consistently serve, to coach students through their salvation story and prepare them and those in their homes for the next step in their spiritual journey.
  • Work and collaborate with the Curriculum Team to contextualize and implement age‑appropriate small group curriculum and engaging large group environments.
  • Facilitate community involvement in the local school system, in line with the Next Generation ministry strategy and vision, to engage Servant‑Leaders and parents in ministry outside of weekly activities.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Next Generation Team by attending all necessary staff meetings and being a team player in ministry‑specific or church‑wide events.
  • Assist the Student Ministry in planning and organizing events for SGY leaders and/or students.
  • Assist the Student Ministry team in creating a budget that leads to the creation and deployment of disciples.
  • SGY‑related Mission Trips
Minimum Work and Education
  • B.S. or B.A. from an accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work/volunteer experience in either a large church’s Student Ministry, or other like‑minded organization.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills in various Microsoft software packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient with Social Media.
  • Steady, positive attitude.
  • People‑oriented, team player.
  • Ability to work with, equip and manage people.
Time Requirement
  • Full time, non‑exempt role (40+ hours/week‑including time at school events, time with students outside of the office, etc.).
  • Office hours are 8:30a.m.‑5:30p.m. Monday‑Thursday. This can be flexible depending on events or special programming.
  • Office hours will fluctuate and increase during ministry event periods.
