Senior RAN Validation Engineer

AST Space Mobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

We are seeking a Senior RAN Validation Engineer to join AST Space Mobile’s Validation Team. This role is responsible for hands‑on validation and troubleshooting of Radio Access Network (RAN) systems in a satellite end-to-end environment. The ideal candidate will analyze and troubleshoot field test results, validate RAN components (terrestrial and non‑terrestrial), and ensure network performance and reliability meet design expectations.

• Perform hands‑on RAN testing in an end‑to‑end lab environment.
• Troubleshoot and interpret field testing results to identify issues and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct RAN‑oriented troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Work closely with system engineers and developers to validate new software releases and features.
• Contribute to test planning, execution, and reporting for RAN validation activities.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.

Experience:

A minimum of 5+ years of experience in wireless network testing and RAN validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Python and MATLAB for automation and data analysis.
• Familiarity with industry tools such as XCAL, UE Simulators, and Viavi.
• Solid RF testing background and understanding of radio performance metrics.

  GPP procedures involving RRC, RLC, MAC, and PHY layers.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and reporting.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy of all validation results and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting complex systems.

• QXDM for log analysis and troubleshooting.
• Python and MATLAB for automation and data analysis.
• Industry tools: XCAL, UE Simulators, Viavi.

• Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to work in lab environments for hands‑on testing.
• Occasional travel may be required for field testing and validation activities.
