Overview
Prismecs is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer – O&M to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations within a power generation facility. This role ensures that all control, electrical, and instrumentation systems meet statutory requirements, OEM specifications, and operational performance targets. The Controls Engineer works closely with the Plant Manager to execute maintenance activities, troubleshoot equipment issues, support project deliverables, and maintain high availability of plant assets.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Maintenance
Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on control, electrical, and instrumentation systems based on OEM manuals and industry best practices.
Operate and monitor SCADA, protection, and control systems during assigned shifts.
Investigate and report protection trips, equipment failures, power quality issues, and metering discrepancies.
Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and testing of HV/MV maneuver equipment, relays, and transformers.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, daily reports, and digital records.
Technical Support & Engineering
Ensure all plant control and electrical systems are technically fit for purpose and fully aligned with OEM standards.
Support the Plant Manager by identifying engineering deliverables and ensuring plant availability meets contractual requirements.
Review and approve 3rd-party control and instrumentation documentation as needed.
Perform relay settings, load flow studies, fault calculations, and power system modeling (SKM, ETAP, Eazy Power, CYME).
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and contribute technical findings and recommendations.
Coordination, Compliance & Quality
Collaborate closely with HSE teams; comply with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
Support inventory audits and ensure critical spares, parts, and consumables are available.
Mentor, coach, and support plant personnel to ensure proper use and care of equipment.
Assist other plant departments to meet overall operational goals.
Technical & Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Control, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems design, commissioning, maintenance, or technical support.
Strong experience with PLC, SCADA, HMI, protection systems, and instrumentation in a power plant environment.
Hands‑on knowledge of ABB, Com Ap, and DEIF controls
.Proficiency with power system modeling tools (SKM, ETAP, Eazy Power, CYME).
Experience with MV/LV electrical systems, relay protection settings, and fault analysis.
Knowledge of NEC, NESC, CSA, IEEE, and ANSI engineering standards.
Strong experience performing RCA and technical reporting.
Industrial communication knowledge (Modbus, instrumentation networks).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows.
Power plant experience required; TM2500 or Cummins QSK
60 is a plus.
Safety & Compliance Requirements
Strong understanding of HSE practices in power generation.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18001 preferred.
