Environmental Field Technician

Role location:
Midland / Odessa, TX area. The Environmental Technician will assist in environmental compliance for multiple oil and gas clients, with activities including surface and groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, soil remediation oversight, active operations and maintenance of remedial systems, permit compliance, and subcontractor oversight. The ideal candidate will have environmental site monitoring experience and an aptitude for mechanical and electrical problem solving, with strong communication skills for project teams and fieldnote documentation.

Other responsibilities can be learned on the job through training with experienced staff.

This position may require periodic reporting to the Midland, TX office for meetings and to pick up equipment and materials.

The Environmental Technician sits within the Global Resilience Business Area, which focuses on protecting natural environments and water resources while supporting sustainable energy for the future.

• Groundwater, soil, and vapor sampling
• Implementation of field activities including permit-compliance sampling, well development and repair, system operations and maintenance, and waste management
• Remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring
• Site inspections
• Permit compliance
• The potential to oversee subcontractors to perform selected operations

• High School Diploma
• 3+ years environmental field experience preferred

• Ability to read, understand and complete scopes of work with limited supervision
• Mechanical aptitude
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical controls for treatment systems
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work independently
• Live in or relocate to Midland or Odessa, TX area

• Ability to obtain OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training and DOT Haz Mat Shipping training (required; depending on project needs, additional certifications may be necessary such as ARC Flash NFPA 70E, Class C Public Water System License, 30 Hour Construction Safety, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, etc.)

  Associates degree or Trade School Certificate/Diploma (preferred/beneficial)

Salary range for this position is $46,169 - $69,253, with variation based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
