Control Room Operator

Diamondback is actively looking for employees to join our Internal Operations Center (IOC). The Control Room Operator will proactively monitor and control wells, processing equipment, compressors, and alarms during normal operations, abnormal conditions, and emergency response. The Operator will also be responsible for optimizing production, organizing resources, and serving as the key communication link between field personnel, corporate staff, vendors, and interconnects.

This position is based in Midland, Texas at a 24/7 operations control room and reports to the Control Room Lead.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Utilize SCADA platforms daily to review instrumentation at facilities and at well locations
  • Receive, review, and distribute alarms to the correct field personnel
  • Function as central point of contact for field operations during ESD or shutdown conditions
  • Remotely start/stop equipment located in field to prevent alarms and/or environmental releases
  • Compile daily KPI reports for distribution
  • Actively work with SCADA Admins to develop enhancements to visualizations, tools, and reports
  • Provide thorough handover notes to Lead and IOC Operators coming onto next shift
  • Communicate regularly with field Foreman and Superintendents
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1+) year of operating experience
  • Three (3+) years of oil and gas experience
  • Ability to work 7-on/7-off, 13‑hour rotational shifts including days and nights with occasional travel to field locations (including weekends and holidays when scheduled)

  • Prior control room experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated to drive efficiencies and learn new technologies
  • Good administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities
  • Ability to accurately solve problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook), Spotfire/Power
