Job SummaryThe Automation Programmer is responsible for the programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, integration, and optimization of industrial automation and control systems used in Oil & Gas operations. This position will work closely with engineering, operations, electrical, instrumentation, and field personnel to develop reliable and safe control solutions that meet customer and project requirements.
Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA and industrial control system applications. Program and integrate control systems using platforms such as Allen-Bradley, ABB, Emerson, Red Lion, Beijer, Ignition.
Interpret Cause & Effect matrices, Control Narratives, P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation documentation to develop control logic and system functionality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), system validation troubleshooting, and functional testing of new control system designs. Commission PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and control systems in the field.
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain communication networks and protocol converters.
- Maintain accurate programming documentation, backups, configuration files, drawings, and system records.
- Strong understanding of PLC programming, HMI, SCADA development, instrumentation, and industrial communications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Work on your feet for extended time periods. Work in a vehicle at a computer for extended time periods.
Work EnvironmentWork in customer MCCs, a vehicle, and outdoors subject to the elements.
