Radiologic Technologist
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) focuses on patient safety and works within the legal scope of practice, adhering to federal, state, local laws, rules, regulations, and the policies and procedures of the health care institution.
The RT operates under their own license, assumes accountability and responsibility for the quality of care delivered to patients and families, and follows standards of practice. The RT demonstrates continuous competence by reflecting, self‑analysis, self‑care, and lifelong learning.
SHIFT & SCHEDULEFulltime, Monday – Thursday 5:00 am to 3:30 pm
Essential Functions / Performance Expectations- Practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipment and accessories consistent with their intended purposes, and employs procedures and techniques appropriately.
- Assesses situations, exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility for professional decisions; and acts in the best interest of the patient.
- Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in diagnosis and treatment, recognizing that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice.
- Uses equipment and accessories, employs techniques and procedures, performs services in accordance with accepted standards of practice, and demonstrates expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self, and other team members.
- Participates in the Radiology Career Ladder program which evaluates employees against minimum job level requirements, allows advancement up the ladder, and may adjust levels if requirements are not met.
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or trained in a hospital‑based program that is AMA approved.
- ARRT registered or eligible – ARRT registration must be obtained within six months of employment.
- Texas Medical Board license for Radiologic Technologists or in process of obtaining one.
- Initial and annual education with the Total Joint & Spine Center: 1.5 hours.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak, and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs for clinical staff and to 50 lbs for non‑clinical staff. An assisted‑lift device or assistance from another individual must be used for lifts exceeding these limits.
