BriefJob Description
Under the supervision of the Immunization Program Manager for Public Health Region (PHR) 9/10, this position serves as the PHR Subject Matter Expert on vaccine recommendations, health planning, PHR and Local Health Department (LHD) contract activities, and will be consultant to other immunization function areas. This position collects and reports on PHR immunization activities as well as training and reviewing the contracted Local Health Department’s report of activities and on-site reviews.
The position utilizes databases to access regional immunization programming education needs, prepares immunization trainings to various stakeholders and community groups including professional conferences, schools, community organizations, providers and the general public. Evaluates the effectiveness of the Immunization Program educational activities in the region. Works as a team with all program staff and is involved in planning, developing and implementing educational programming activities and providing technical assistance to program staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the general public.
May train others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Performs Immunization Responsible Entity functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Coordinates and serves as the Immunization Team Lead for program staff in PHR 9/10. Assist with orientation, education, continued training and program accountability for team members. Presents project updates to manager, provides feedback for team member performance evaluations. In coordination with manager, acts as the designee in assigning tasks. Oversees the coordination of the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC)/Adult Safety Net (ASN) program to include all TVFC unannounced storage and handling visits, TVFC/ASN provider compliance follow-up, trainings, collaborations, vaccine management, re-enrollment, recruitment and all aspects of the TVFC/ASN program activities.
Works with Immunization School/Childcare Compliance Coordinator to develop and carry out plans for the completion of population assessments assigned to the region. Works with Regional Imm Trac Coordinator to develop and carry out plans to comply with Imm Trac program requirements and plans activities to promote the registry and increase vaccine coverage. Works with the Adult Immunization Coordinator to meet program goals and plan activities.
Works with regional staff to develop and accomplish program objectives set forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Immunization Unit in Austin. Works with staff and providers to meet the requirements of the program through training, education and technical assistance. Identifies, addresses and solves issues when needed. Reports findings and addresses issues with the Immunization Program Manager.
Makes recommendations for program improvements.
Assists in monitoring contracts with local health departments. Assists with contract on-site review visits to local health departments annually. Prepares detailed and comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations. Provides programmatic guidance on a corrective action plan. Communicates on a regular basis with local health departments to provide feedback and ensure that all contractors are provided timely information on policy and procedural changes.
Oversees the coordination and processing of the LHD and PHR quarterly reports. Detects errors, discrepancies and provides feedback and recommendations on quarterly reports.
