Position OverviewWe are seeking a CSAT Structures Technician to support the mechanical and structural assembly of satellite hardware. This role focuses on precision installation of structural components, panels, brackets, fasteners, and mechanisms that make up the satellite structure. The CSAT Structures Technician plays a critical role in ensuring structural assemblies are built correctly, torqued properly, aligned to specification, and free from damage during integration.
This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, strict adherence to procedures, and the ability to recognize and elevate issues before they impact flight hardware.
This position is assigned to Shift 1
- Days: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (4×10s). Depending on business needs, this role may also have opportunities on Shift 2-Nights: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m. (4×10s).
- Perform mechanical and structural assembly of satellite components and subassemblies
- Install panels, brackets, frames, and structural hardware per drawings and work instructions
- Apply torque, staking, bonding, and fastening methods to aerospace standards
- Ensure proper alignment, fitment, and clearances during structural integration
- Identify mechanical interference, tolerance stack-ups, or build issues during assembly
- Prevent damage to flight hardware by following proper handling and installation techniques
- Recognize when procedures are being performed incorrectly and elevate concerns to leads or engineers
- Support rework, modification, and corrective actions as directed by engineering or quality
- Maintain cleanroom discipline, FOD control, and ESD compliance
- Document discrepancies, issues, and build feedback during CSAT structural integration
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical certification, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, aerospace manufacturing, or precision structures work
- Hands-on experience with torque tools, fasteners, and mechanical assembly processes
- Experience reading and following mechanical drawings and work instructions
- Experience working on satellites, spacecraft, or aerospace structural assemblies
- Familiarity with aerospace torque standards, fastener locking methods, and bonding processes
- Experience working in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments
- Ability to identify structural risks or improper build techniques before hardware damage occurs
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to follow procedures while recognizing when something is not correct
- Strong communication skills and willingness to speak up about build issues
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team-based manufacturing environment
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills
- Mechanical hand tools and calibrated torque tools
- Precision measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Mechanical drawings, CAD-derived work instructions, and travelers
- MES or digital work instruction systems (experience preferred, not required)
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and integration environment
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as required
- Ability to perform fine motor tasks and repetitive mechanical assembly work
