Cullerton Group is seeking a Machinist I to support the production of metallic and nonmetallic parts for manufacturer. This role involves setting up and operating machining equipment, following established processes, and maintaining dimensional accuracy and product quality while developing greater independence.
Pay: $29.65/hour
Overtime Pay: $44.48/hour (1.5x the regular rate)
Schedule: 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, five 10-hour workdays per week (50 hours/week)
Additional Overtime: Available for those interested
Relocation Assistance: Some relocation assistance may be available
Responsibilities- Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Follow the required sequence of operations and equipment setup instructions.
- Measure and mark materials and work pieces for machining.
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials on mills, lathes, grinders, and other machining equipment.
- Calculate and adjust machining settings, including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
- Retrieve, enter, or edit CNC machine commands and programs as directed.
- Perform trial runs to verify machine settings and programmed control data.
- Monitor machining operations, identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make adjustments as required.
- Inspect finished parts to verify compliance with specifications.
- Fit and assemble parts, checking dimensions and alignment.
- Identify worn tooling, replace inserts and cutting components, and complete required daily preventive maintenance.
- Assist other machinists and collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production personnel to resolve machining and assembly issues.
- Complete required work documentation and follow safety and security procedures.
- High school diploma with up to three months of related workplace experience; six months of vocational or technical training; or an equivalent combination.
- Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of basic machinery operating principles.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to accurately complete work-related documentation.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Willingness to learn and work under close supervision while developing machining skills.
- Experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Okuma OSP CNC controls.
