Job Description
With a focus on patient safety, the RN will function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. Working under their own license, the RN assumes accountability and responsibility for the quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of nursing practice.
This role demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice and develops insight through reflection, self‑analysis, self‑care, and lifelong learning.
Full Time, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Essential Functions / Performance Expectations- Complete a comprehensive assessment, including initial and ongoing extensive data collection, analysis and interpretation.
- Synthesize collected data to identify problems, make nursing diagnoses, and formulate goals, teaching plans and outcomes.
- Implement the plan of care, delivering, assigning or delegating interventions within the plan for patients within legal, ethical, and regulatory parameters and with consideration of health restoration, disease prevention, wellness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
- Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions compared to evidence‑based benchmarks, and plan follow‑up care and referrals as needed.
- Associate’s Degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. MNH supports advancement to BSN level for all nurses. - Current Texas RN license.
- Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred.
- ACLS certification required within 18 months of employment in the Progressive Care Unit.
- Early acute stroke recognition and treatment knowledge required.
- Complete eight hours of hospital‑provided continuing education upon hire and annually for Total Joint and Spine programs.
- Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting limited to 35 lbs for clinical staff and 50 lbs for non‑clinical staff; use an assisted‑lift device or help lifting above these limits.
