American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Requirements- Active TX or compact RN license required; pending license accepted with submission but must be active before start
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Previous Charge RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP
- Preferred certifications: AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and infusion pump use
- Experience with high-risk antepartum, vaginal and C-section deliveries, and fetal monitoring (external and internal)
- Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin, and other L&D medication administration
- RTO must be submitted with application
- Labor and Delivery unit in a hospital with 200-300 births per month
- Rotates through triage, antepartum, labor, circulating, and transition duties (no post-partum)
- Must be able to circulate and transition babies as well as labor patients
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
- 16-week assignment with a minimum of 13 weeks considered
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and newborn care in the delivery room
- Performs fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement/calibration
- Provides antepartum care including NST, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
- Some holiday coverage expected
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
- Onsite drug screening required upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for failure
- First‑time travel nurses considered as long as they meet experience requirements
