• H‑E‑B needs energetic and motivated partners willing to work hard and have fun while making our customers feel welcome.
• As a Perishable Representative, you are responsible for providing a well‑stocked and well‑maintained department while providing superior customer service.
• You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis, while maintaining all department and food safety/sanitation standards.
• Once you’re eligible, you’ll become an owner in the company, so we’re looking for commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and customer service.
• Provide superior customer service: take orders by telephone or in person; answer customer questions regarding products and assist them with selections.
• Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product: slice, package, label, and rotate products; scan items on Telxon for production; assist in technical areas as needed.
• Merchandise product effectively: use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales; make regular announcements related to freshly‑produced items to increase sales.
• Cleans and sanitizes display cases; properly operates/maintains equipment; complies with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards and departmental SOPs.

• High school diploma (or equivalent); minimum age 18.
• Computer systems knowledge (Telxon, ACR, label machine); strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Reading and writing skills; planning and organizing skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, retail environment; function with customers, staying attentive to their needs.
• Experience in merchandising and customer service within a perishable department; knowledge of market, seafood, produce, floral, and Aguas department tasks.
• Physical requirements:
  
  ability to stand, walk, pivot, reach at waist, shoulder, overhead; lift 90 lbs in Market or 50 lbs in Seafood; manage repeated lifting over specified hours; ability to work in wet, cold, and hot conditions.
