We’re working with a fast-growing space company developing a first-of-its-kind satellite communications network with the potential to transform global connectivity.
They’re looking for a Principal Flight Software Engineer to join a small, highly technical team building and operating complex flight systems.
Location: Midland Texas
This is a hands-on Principal role for an engineer who can solve challenging embedded problems, lead technical projects, and influence architecture and engineering practices across the team.
- Develop flight software across Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms
- Design and develop BSPs, device drivers, device trees and hardware interfaces
- Own and evolve embedded networking and communications subsystems
- Lead projects from architecture and design through integration and delivery
- Debug complex hardware/software issues in the lab
- Work closely with RF, hardware, systems and mission operations teams
- Improve CI, build, release and development infrastructure
- Establish engineering standards and mentor other engineers
- Help shape how AI is responsibly used in embedded software development
- 5+ years of embedded software engineering experience
- Strong Embedded Linux expertise
- Experience with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks, Green Hills or similar
- Experience with BSPs, device drivers and/or device trees
- Strong embedded networking and TCP/IP knowledge
- Excellent hardware/software integration and debugging skills
- Experience with Yocto, Buildroot or similar
- Ability to lead technically and take ownership without needing direct reports
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment
- Spacecraft or New Space experience
- RF / RFSoC experience
- or real-time Linux
- Embedded security
- Fault-tolerant software
- Experience with complex communication systems
Base Salary Competitive, market-benchmarked base salary.
Guaranteed Monthly Stipend guaranteed, paid monthly on top of base salary.
