High School Head Baseball Coach

Reports to:

Athletic Director and High School Principal

Education: High School Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)

Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years coaching experience required
• Previous head coaching experience preferred

• Clearance on background check that is satisfactory to the Administration
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate students
• Student-centered, with strong character and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with athletes, staff, parents, and the broader school community

• Lead and manage the High School Baseball program in alignment with district values and goals.
• Create a positive, respectful team culture rooted in hard work, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
• Serve as a role model for students in conduct, ethics, and professional behavior.
• Develop and implement dynamic practices that challenge and improve individual and team performance.
• Communicate team policies, expectations, and goals to players and families throughout the season.
• Provide individualized support and follow-up for athletes dealing with injuries, illness, or academic challenges.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director, Maintenance Supervisor, and High School Principal to ensure safe and well-maintained facilities.
• Promote student academic success and character development through mentorship and accountability.
• Maintain compliance with all district, state, and MSHSAA regulations and policies.
• Plan and conduct a pre-season parent meeting to outline program expectations, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Evaluate student-athletes and provide regular feedback to support improvement and growth.
• Manage the program’s inventory, including equipment maintenance, distribution, and end-of-season collection.
• Organize game schedules, transportation, and team logistics in cooperation with the Athletic Director.
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches to ensure alignment with program philosophy and standards.

• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds independently; heavier items with assistance
• Dexterity to grasp, move, and manipulate objects; ability to perform actions requiring fine motor skills
• Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and reach in various directions
• Capable of hearing conversations in noisy environments
• Requires occasional travel

Consistent and punctual attendance is essential to this position

• Outdoor responsibilities in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions (including temperatures above 100°F)
• Frequent irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by game and practice schedules

Performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Director and High School Principal. Appointment to this position is subject to annual review and approval of extra-duty assignments by the District.
