Route Service Technician
Primary responsibility: operating a company truck and traveling to customer locations to deliver, pick up, maintain, service, or repair portable restrooms, hand sinks, holding tanks, and other assigned assets.
This role may involve daily routes, pickup/delivery schedules, yard/shop assistance, or special events and is exposed to extreme weather conditions, unpleasant odors, and other challenging environments. Hours and physical demands may vary by task.
Responsibilities- Operate truck safely in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Maintain a clean truck inside and out.
- Perform daily pre and post‑trip inspections as set forth by Stallion Infrastructure Services procedures and D.O.T. guidelines.
- Follow all Stallion Infrastructure Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and General Standards.
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to the dispatch office.
- Perform all tasks assigned by Branch Operations Manager, including delivery and pickup of rental equipment, restocking trucks, organizing shop and yard, assisting other departments, and responding to emergency calls.
- Provide service for customers’ portable restroom(s) by following Stallion Infrastructure Services service steps.
- Keep work areas in yard clean and organized and notify Branch Manager of hazards.
- Communicate with Branch Operations Manager and office staff regarding items that can hinder a job (e.g., low inventory, keys, chemicals, supplies).
- Submit all route information and paperwork to the office at shift end.
- Utilize dispatching software for routing, document photos, and log customer concerns.
- Professional interaction with employees and customers is always required.
- Provide distinguishably different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service.
- Answer customer questions and direct them to the office for additional information.
- Provide routing feedback to office and dispatcher to improve efficiency.
- Wear uniforms at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, operate, and understand an electronic map/GPS/dispatching system using a phone or iPad.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job: prolonged exertions, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing.
- General knowledge of truck mechanics.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with staff and customers.
- Ability to pull a trailer preferred.
- Waste industry experience preferred.
- Work in varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, snow, rain, wind, noise, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust).
- Possible exposure to human waste.
- Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of vehicle.
- Position is outdoors and/or driving a GPS‑monitored vehicle.
- Physically able to push or pull independently 50 pounds 25‑50 times daily.
- Physically able to lift independently 50 pounds from ground to waist height 25‑50 times daily.
- Physically able to get up and down from cab of a commercial motor vehicle 30‑50 times daily.
- Physically able to lift with assistance 100 pounds 20‑30 times daily.
- Physically able to bend at waist and knees 120‑150 times daily.
- Physically able to reach overhead and pull down using 20 pounds of force and secure a tarp.
- Physically able to climb up to 8 feet to deploy a 25‑pound tarp.
- Physically able to work 8‑12 hours in extreme weather conditions.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- 1‑year or more previous commercial driving experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass pre‑employment background screen and drug/alcohol tests.
- Stay up to date on current technology used by Stallion Infrastructure Services.
- Understand waste collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understand DOT and state requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
- Normal hearing and vision with or without correction.
