Your Impact in This Role

Position Summary: A Quality Testing Technician I is responsible for testing the quality of outbound materials and communicating findings relative to material specifications.

Responsibilities:

Assist in utilizing the SMI Quality system at SMI facility.

Ensure products and services meet or exceed customer specifications.

Perform plant quality checks per SMI’s Quality Procedures.

Update and maintain quality records on a computer.

Conduct in-process cullet sampling and document in accordance with SOP.

Perform and document incoming and outgoing load inspections.

Work with maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently.

Wear appropriate PPE as required.

Adhere to all safety policies and operating procedures.

Cross-train in other plant positions as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities:

Includes bending, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements.

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or GED preferred
Experience in Quality Control and Operations preferred
Glass processing knowledge preferred

Work Environment:

Exposure to heights, dust/fumes, extreme temperatures, slippery surfaces, uneven terrain, and noise, with appropriate safety measures.
