Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. Applications are welcome for the above Permanent full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh Hospital.
This is a substantive post to replace a retirement in the Gastroenterology Unit at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh It will be based in the Hepatology Unit of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and involve both out-patient and in-patient activities. The weekly timetable separates in-patient and out-patient duties. The standard week will include two outpatient clinics (one in general hepatology and one in liver transplant), supervision of a registrar (ST) clinic, and an endoscopy list.
There will also be outreach liver transplant clinics in Aberdeen and Dundee (x4/year each)
In-patient duties including responsibility for acute hepatology patients in Ward 205 (6 weeks per year) and liver transplant patients in Ward 206T and critical care (8 weeks per year), along with triage of referrals to the liver service.
The post-holder will contribute to out-of-hours hepatology cover. The post will not include general GI clinics and there is no General Internal Medicine commitment.
