Location:
Edinburgh Job Type: Full-time Position SummaryA forward-thinking engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their Edinburgh team. The role is ideal for a proficient, self-motivated engineer with strong technical knowledge, excellent time management, and a track record of consistent project delivery. The successful candidate works well independently, while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities Undertake mechanical design and consultancy work, including system design, production, specifications, schedules, and client reports.
Represent the consultancy in meetings with clients and external consultants, acting as a key point of contact.
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring client requirements are met.
Support and train junior staff, reviewing workloads and prioritising tasks.
Check the accuracy and adequacy of documentation produced by others.
Apply and maintain quality system procedures and comply with ISO and relevant national legislation.
Manage projects, including trainee staff organisation, scheduling, and delivery to time and cost requirements.
Record man-hour commitments, monitor project budgets, and report project fee information regularly.
Comply with security procedures and confidentiality requirements.
Education & Experience Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng Hons preferred).Chartered or working towards Chartership (IMechE / CIBSE).Competent in AutoCAD, with knowledge of Revit.
Minimum engineering HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
Skills & Competencies Technically competent engineer with strong project management and financial control skills.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management.
Ability to work independently while supporting and mentoring others.
