We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Health and Safety Business Partner The post holder will have overall responsibility for promoting and embedding best practice in Health and Safety across the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Working closely with the Lead Health and Safety Advisor and the Head of Health and Safety, the role supports the delivery of the NHS Lothian Health and Safety Management System and ensures compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. You will lead on the promotion and implementation of effective risk control strategies across designated areas, working in partnership with operational Heads of Service and management teams to identify, manage, and mitigate health and safety risks, and foster a proactive and consistent safety culture.

The role will also require you to conduct thorough accident and incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented, and lessons learned are communicated to prevent recurrence.

This role is offered within NHS Scotland and provides an opportunity for appointments under Annex 21, supporting structured development and progression within the Health and Safety profession.

Where appropriate, the post may be filled on an Annex 21 training basis, offering a defined development pathway toward full competency, salary progression, and professional growth.

* For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified.more
