This is a key senior hire within a respected and growing rural business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of high-value rural property work while playing a central role in driving business development across Scotland.
The Role This is a senior, commercially focused position based in the Edinburgh area. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business, securing instructions, and managing the full lifecycle of rural property sales.
You will play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s presence within the rural property market, while delivering a high standard of client service across complex and high-value transactions.
The role is both strategic and hands-on, combining business development with day-to-day management of rural sales instructions.
Key Responsibilities Generate new business, market appraisals, and property instructions
Identify and develop opportunities within the rural property sector
Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, farmers, and clients
Conduct valuations, viewings, and negotiate offers
Manage the full sales process from instruction through to completion
Oversee marketing activity including brochures, listings, PR, and digital content
Attend industry events and develop referral networks
Provide market insight and competitor awareness
Work collaboratively with wider teams across related service lines
Contribute to business development strategies and tenders
Ensure compliance with relevant professional and regulatory standards (e.g. RICS, GDPR)
Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate
About You We are looking for an experienced rural property professional with strong commercial drive and a proven track record in business development.
The ideal candidate will have:
Background in rural estate agency, surveying, or property sales
Experience handling high-value rural assets (farms, estates, land)
Strong ability to generate new business and win instructions
Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
Strong understanding of the Scottish rural property market
Ability to manage complex transactions end-to-endFull UK driving licence
