Overview

Brass/Woodwinds Teacher - Private/Semi-Private Instruction for Midlothian Council. This role involves providing private and semi-private brass/woodwinds instruction in line with program needs. The position is part-time and offers flexible scheduling.

• Teach private and semi-private lessons using the program curriculum and cover song arrangements as needed.
• Create an encouraging, fun, and focused lesson atmosphere.
• Assess a student’s readiness to join a band or ensemble.
• Assist at school events as required.
• May assist with equipment maintenance as needed.

• Demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and communicate them effectively to students.
• Advanced understanding of music theory and technique relevant to brass or woodwind instruments.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities.
• Experienced performer (solo or group).
• Experience working with youth and/or beginning musicians.
• Ability to interact effectively with children and adults.
• Ability to pass a background check.
