This Substitute Teacher position supports the classroom and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. They must communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. The staff assists the Lead Teacher in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents.

Substitute teachers support the Lead Teacher through learning and daily tasks. Winfree Memorial Preschool is a Nationally Accredited Preschool which has served families in the Midlothian area for over sixty years.

• Assist in the implementation of curriculum activities and encourage participation by children.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Encourage self‑help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to preschool.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.
• Christ‑Centred – commits to taking actions that develop a closer walk with Christ through active involvement in a Christian church program.
• Teamwork with other teachers.

• Professional development is required for teaching, and all teachers are paid to attend and must meet the required 25 hours of professional development. All training courses will be provided by Winfree Preschool.
• CPR and First Aid are required and provided for each teacher.
